Something a Little different...

Hi all, today I have something a little different (for me!), and something that was inspired by a number of challenges this week.

I have made some home decor, my first piece, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

And here's my take:



I have made a decorated frame for my daughter's best friend, she will be twelve tomorrow, and girls this age definitely do not do pink!

So I made this for her room, which has a teal theme.




I have based it on the Sketch at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, a bit more loosely than my previous entry - I hope that's ok :-)

I have stamped and silver embossed 3 doilies from WMS, cut out (must get those co-ordinating Spellbinders!) and layered together. Then layered this onto a lovely piece of DP by Wild Rose Studios (4x6 with mount). Topped the doilies of with a very sparkly crystal.



Using a combination of flowers, crystals, beads from a broken bracelet (Recycled !) and some buttons, adhered to the bottom half with a couple of leafy sprigs cut using a Stampin' Up punch and Echo park papers.



Using WMS Victorian Alphabet and Bitty Banners, created a little bunting to string across the top. My original idea was to string this inside the frame, but it was too small - next time I will buy a bigger frame!


Added some ruffled seam binding down one side from The Ribbon Reel, and a little bird cut using the same Stampin' Up punch. Finally added some stickles to the floral arrangement for some girly glimmer!

CR84FN #39, WMSC #66

Hi all, another post from me today ( a record!) with a little card for the new challenge over at CR84FN.

I've been meaning to get all autumnal lately, but today I finally got round to indulging myself! So, using the sketch from Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge, and the colours from CR84FN this week, here's the inspiration:





And here's my take:




I have based my card on a plaid pattern, using Pic-Nic Patterns and Offbeat Backgrounds.



On the left I have attached some kraft card embossed with a woodgrain embossing folder, and wound around the join some orange sheer ruffle ribbon and lemon yellow twine from The Ribbon Reel.


The sentiment label is from Spring Baskets, stamped onto a little pennant from Bitty Banners. Under the banner i have attached some lace also from The Ribbon Reel.


The little felt flowers are by Craftime, and the buttons from stash.

I made this card just for fun, for me. I love the cosy feeling the colours give, and coupled with the plaid pattern, it just makes me want to go and grab a hug!

PDCC 100!

Morning all, today I have a card for The Play Date Cafe's 100th Challenge! As it's a special one, I really wanted to make sure I took part this week! Time has kind of run away from me though, and I've only just finished my entry.

Here are the gorgeous Autumnal colours for us this week, and I have used the sketch from Sketch Saturday:





And here's my spin:



I knew exactly what I was going to do when I saw the colour story on Thursday: I wanted to make a wreath using the wonderful Oak leaf stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps Peace and Plenty and Blessed By You.

So I spent several hours last night stamping these leaves in a variety of colours and combinations and fussy cutting them out! I had a very sore thumb and forefinger, not to mention RSI in the wrist! Ah well, no pain, no gain! I eventually decided to use the leaves stamped in a block colour, then over-stamped with the outline stamp.



In the end, I decided on a half wreath, mounted onto a die cut circle using a Nellie Snellen die. Then threaded some raffia through the little loops and formed a bow.



The central sentiment label was cut using 3 sets of Nestabilities and bazzill, and the sentiment is from Peace and Plenty.

Before mounting onto a white linen card base, I stamped the acorn and oak leaf pattern in two different distress inks. Finally, I added some Gold Glamour dust using my quickie glue pen to the veins of the upper leaves and some dew drop gems to the card base.

DYSU Guest Designer

Morning all, today I have a card made for the Do You Stack Up Challenge Blog as their Guest Designer this week! Four weeks ago, my card was picked as a Top 3, and as a result was chosen to Guest Design for a week!

The theme this week is 'Seeing Double'.

As a Guest Designer, we were allowed to choose an image to work with, and I chose this sweet little Peekaboo Penguin, from The Stamping boutique.

I have used a Mountain Fold card base, and layered some pale blue Core'dinations embossed with a snowflake embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Then layered some christmas papers on top from My Mind's Eye, Snowed In.


Printed and coloured two Peekaboo penguins with Promarkers, and added some glossy accents to the beaks, and some Glamour Dust to the hat rim and bobble. Mounted these onto a matt silver circle cut with a pinking die from X-Cut - Spiro Circles.


Wrapped some red Baker's Twine from The Ribbon Reel around the two front panels, and added some gems in co-ordinating colours.


Hidden on the back, I stamped a christmas greeting, from Waltzingmouse Stamps Very Vintage Christmas.


Finally added some paper roses to the top corner.




I had a lot of fun making this sweet card, it's going to my youngest daughter as she has requested it!

The Ribbon Reel Challenge # 11

Today is another bi-weekly challenge from The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog, and Keilly, the owner of The Ribbon Reel has chosen the inspiration for us this week. Check this gorgeous cake out!!



Make something with a Birthday Theme, and does not have to be the colours in the picture, any colours will do!

I've made a really girly card, using the beautiful seam bindings, ribbon and lace from The Ribbon Reel, and papers from Melissa Frances.

I have used the sketch this week from Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge, designed by the Wonderfully Talented Anya Schrier, and the colour palette from The Play Date Cafe:








The bottom of the card has been shaped with a Go - Kreate die using some beautiful Melissa Frances paper, then stitched in grey thread around the edges. It's a bit wonky, but that paper is too precious to throw out and start again lol!




I then cut and layered together some musical note decorated paper, again from Melissa Frances, and edged it with a Martha Stewart punch. Distressed the edges with Tattered Rose and Milled Lavender Distress Inks.

Layered these two pieces together, then covered the join with some White Ruffled Sheer ribbon, Lilac Lace, and Cameo Beige seam binding, all from The Ribbon Reel, and added a silver metal buckle from stash.



I tied a bow in both Lilac and Cameo Beige seam binding, then spritzed with water and scrunched to get the shabby vintage look - my first attempt at this, and I'd like to try with some inks another time. Topped the bow off with a paper rose from my stash slightly stained with Tattered Rose Distress ink.

I then layered this onto a Waltzingmouse Stamps Oval Classic Frame, backed with some doily cut offs distressed with Antique linen ink. The sentiment is also from WMS, using Say it With Style.


As a final backing, I embossed some pale lilac Core'dinations card with a Crafts Too Damask embossing folder, and sanded back to reveal the paler core. But then I fancied a bit of bling, and touched up the sanded areas with some glue and topped with some gold glamour dust. The light here was very bad when I took these pics, but it's very sparkly and girly IRL!

Less is More 1000 Challenge, CAS-ual Fridays

Hi all, I have a little card to share today for Less is More 1000 Challenge, and CAS-ual Fridays mini cards.



I have made a little card for my daughter's friend, who had a terrible accident last week and broke her elbow - yesterday she had to have an operation to pin the bones together, ouch!

My daughter asked me to make her a Get Well Card, and this is what I made:



I wanted to use the elegant dressform from Waltzingmouse Stamps, it's such a beautiful image.
I stamped the dress onto some patterned paper from Echo Park Victoria Gardens paper stack, and layered it onto a sparkly label cut with Spellbinders, then cut a larger label in the musical notes paper from the same paper stack - it's actually the reverse of the turquoise damask on the dress!


I edged the larger label with Black Soot Distress Ink, and stamped the sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees in the corner.

A very quick and easy card today, as I knew exactly what I wanted to use - it took me about 15 minutes from start to finish! That's a real record for me lol!

Less is More 1000 Challenge!

Hi all (again!), Less is more have a challenge and a half this week - Can we manage 1000 submissions with a CAS anything goes theme! Well, I think we can all manage at least one if not more!

I have a card I made a little while ago, but hadn't got round to blogging yet.


The image is one of three from one stamp by Stamps Happen, Dragon, Butterfly, Bee.

I cut the bee, coloured with Promarkers, and layered up onto some pink and yellow card, and edged with some gold stickles.

The sentiment id from Stamp-It!

Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz...BOO!

Phew, I made it this month! I very nearly didn't make it! It's that time again, The Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz!

This month's theme is ..Halloween...BOO!


I received Cicely at Halloween last week, and I have to say this is one of my favourite little sets. She is a sweetie to colour in, and i just love the vintage 1930's feel to the graphics.


Cicely at Halloween had been stamped twice - one main image and one small image. Cut Cicely's face, hat and scarf from the larger image and decoupaged this into the smaller circular image. When I first got this set, it was something that immediately came to mind, her hat and scarf over the edges. I also stamped and cut out a little extra bat too.

I went around the image with a Promarker in Putty for a little dimension, and left her uncoloured.


I then layered the image onto a die cut circle of kraft card cut using a Nellie Snellen die, and a pinked circle of My Mind's Eye patterned paper, cut with an X-Cut die. Then layered this onto a small circle of kraft card cut using my Nestabilities Circles Small.


Then onto a white linen card base, attached a tartan pattern from My Mind's Eye, distressed with Walnut Stain Distress ink. Cut a panel of kraft and layered this up with some more DP and kraft edged with a Martha Stewart punch.



Wrapped some lace around the panel and layered all together, finally adding some gems.

WMSC #64

Morning all, I have finally finished my card for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.

The sketch is very open to interpretation, and I decided to use one of my new Halloween stamps from Claire, Cicely at Halloween. The images in this set are beautifully vintage in style, and evoke an era of times gone by a la Enid Blyton.

So here's the sketch:
And here's Cicely, coloured with Staedtler Soft Colour Pencils. I wanted her to have a glow, like the Ready Brek child (remember that advert?) and thought the pencils would give the image a softer feel all round.



She is being chased by bats, and doesn't she look terrified!



I kept the background simple, to give Cicely the focal point, she is such a gorgeous image to colour.



The little sentiment is also from the same stamp set, mounted onto some green ruffled trim by American Crafts.



The background is stamped with the stars stamp from the same set, in Versafine Vintage Sepia.



I had a lot of fun colouring this sweetie in, I'm going to try some different colours today!

The Play Date Cafe, The City Crafter Challenge

Hi all, today I have a card for a couple of challenges; The Play Date Cafe have a gorgeous colour story for us to try, and the City Crafter Challenge have a recipe to follow of 1 Ribbon, 2 Words and 3 Butterflies.

Here's the jewel like colour inspiration from The Play Date Cafe:


And here's my take:

I have used a white linen card base, distressed with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks, so it actually looks like kraft card.


Then distressed and layered onto the card base some Core'dinations card in Aquamarine. Then layered a distressed piece of Victoria Gardens DP by Echo Park.

Using a Martha Stewart punch, created 3 panels in the required shades, distressed with inks and sanding and layered together with a cut down vintage postcard featuring a beautiful butterfly, also distressed with inks.


Added some floral ribbon and dewdrop gems, and two layered butterflies cut using a Martha Stewart punch.
