CR84FN #64

Hi all, it's a new colour challenge today over at CR84FN, and it's a really beautiful combo! Light Blue, Yellow and Green.

I have used my favourite Waltzingmouse Stamps for a birthday card for my daughter's friend - she turned 13 on Friday, and this was deemed not too babyish for her !

I have used the lovely Nordic Spring to create the stamped background in Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint distress inks, stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

I then stamped the knit style circle using WMS Faux Fun Circles, and cut with nesties. I then cut a scalloped circle in blue Bazzill card stock, and layered this onto a yellow Bazzill circle also cut with nesties.

The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments stamped in Frayed Burlap distress ink.

Before assembling I wrapped some green ruffled satin ribbon from Stampin' Up! and some blue waffle style ribbon around the middle.. I then added two waffle ribbon bows in blue and green topped with co-ordinating paper roses. I then layered the stamped panel onto some blue and yellow bazzill card.

Finally I added some gems to the flower middles and the sentiment circle.

PDCC #151

Hi all, I have a card today for this week's Play Date Cafe. I haven't played along here for a while, my time just seems to be running away from me - how is it almost October already??!

 I love the rich warm colours for this week, and I took some time out this morning to get a bit inky!

 Here's the colour palette:

To recreate these autumnal colours, I used a new Memento ink called Potter's Clay, such a lovely colour. For the green shade i used Bundled Sage Distress Ink, and for the Wine colour I used Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

First I stamped in Bundled Sage a background with my PTI stamps set Harvest Berries, with one of the smaller leaf images.

I then cut the label using my PTI Mat Stack 1 die, and stamped the frame from the Mat Stack 1 stamp set in Potter's Clay. The Sentiment is from Uniko Studios Fontiment fancies set, stamped in Rhubarb Stalk.

I then cut a couple of the leafy images using my Harvest Berries dies, and stamped the leaves in Bundled Sage and Frayed Burlap.

I topped these off with a twine bow and moss coloured gem.

I then inked a card base and kraft card panel with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress inks, before stitching the stamped card to the kraft.

I then took some natural crochet lace, and coloured it this dark red using the Rhubarb Stalk ink. Wrapped this around the stamped card with some twine, and attached to the card base. 

Finally I added some moss gems to the label!

DYSU # 91 - Scallops

Hi all, we have a new challenge over at DYSU, and this week, we would like to see Scallops on your creations!

I have made a card using one of our generous Sponsor's images, Henney Penny. Isn't she adorable?

I stamped her in Toffee Crunch ink, and coloured with Promarkers, and i like this 'invisible lines' looks, it's lovely and soft, like a Mother Hen!

After cutting her out with a scallopped circle nestie I layered her onto some patterned paper from Stampin' Up!, and edged the striped piece with a scallop Fiskars punch.

I added a little sentiment using Tiny Tags from PTI, using the scalloped label from the set.



Finally I added some coloured chiffon ribbon and some green gems for some sparkle.

CR84FN 63 Wk 2

Welcome friends, I'm here this morning with a card to share for this week's CR84FN Color Challenge, and it's week 2 for out colours of Denim, Tan and Brown.

I have made a CAS Thank You card, using one of my many neglected embossing folders!
I used the Damask Design folder by Crafts Too, on some Portal blue Core'dinations card stock - I love this colour! I sanded back to reveal the paler blue core, very faded denim!

I cut a strip of some Stampin' Up! Brown stripe grosgrain ribbon (Love!) and stamped a sentiment label using the newly released Label Love - Thank You from Uniko Studios, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

Finally I added some clear gems for some sparkle.

DYSU # 90 - Use a Flag

Hi all, today we have another fun challenge over at DYSU! This week, we would like to see a Flag or Pennants on your creations!

I was lucky to have been able to choose a fab image from one of our generous sponsors The Stamping Boutique. I have used this magical image called Crystal Ball.

It reminded me of Sleeping Beauty for some reason, so i chose some clinbing rose papers from Trimcraft's new paper stack, Garden Party.

I coloured the globe with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, and layered it onto a layered die cut fancy flourish.

I then layered this onto some ruffled green satin trim and some pink striped grosgrain both from The Ribbon Reel. I added three stamped pennants by Waltzingmouse Stamps, and added some Stickles to the clouds for a little sparkle.

Serendipity Stamps - Halloween

Hi all, today I have a Halloween card for this week's blog hop for Serendipity Stamps! I have used the sweet Kitty With Pumpkin image, and stamped it in Toffee Crunch Memento Ink, it's a sandy colour, and not as strong as a plain brown ink, and I love it!

I coloured the image with Promarkers, and cut with Nestabilities Classic Circles, and matted with Scalloped circles.

The sentiment, Smell My Feet, is also stamped in Toffee Crunch, and cut with Nestabilities. I stitched a pumpkin coloured piece of card to some dark plum card for the card base.

I added some black mesh and orange spot grosgrain ribbon from The Ribbon Reel, and finished off with buttons and some dark brown hemp twine.

TRR #37

Hi all, today brings us another challenge over at The Ribbon reel challenge blog.

This next fortnight we would like to see you use pastels inspired by the picture, and chevrons.

I have used a card base from Craftwork Cards, and covered with some Chevron patterned paper.

I wrapped some red grosgrain stripe ribbon and plain twill from the Ribbon Reel shop down the middle.

I stamped a little kraft tag using a Waltzingmouse stamps sentiment, and added a little resin rose, stripe twill, button twine bow and a little metal charm that says Made with Love, all from the Ribbon Reel shop.

CR84FN #63

 Good morning all, it's time for another new colour challenge over at CR84FN! I can't believe how fast this year is flying by, I actually bought my first Christmas present last week! You can never be too prepared!

This week, we have a lovely combination of Denim, Tan and Brown. So suitable for a masculine card, or dressed up for a more girly look, as I have done:

I have used a few different stamp sets to create my own background paper. I first stamped the text using Waltzingmouse Stamps Text it set in Old Paper distress ink onto some kraft bazzill.

Then, over the top of that I randomly stamped some clock face designs from Uniko Studios Extra Time set, in Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen Distress Inks. I then sponged around the edges in Frayed Burlap and Walnut stain D.I. and added a couple of little floral motifs from Uniko Studios Time set in Faded Jeans.

I then sewed this to Portal Blue Core'dinations card, and distressed the edges with my scissors.

I then created the sentiment frame using the delicate frame from WMS Ovals - Classic Frames set in Faded Jeans D.I.

I stamped the clock face by Uniko in Antique Linen, and the sentiment from WMS Afternoon Tea Sentiments in Rich Cocoa.
Cut with a Spellbinders Small Oval, then traced around the outer edge of the die on the blue card, and hand cut this, then distressed with scissors.

I used a piece of the stamped card inside stitched to a blue panel, punched with an MS punch.

Finally I layered all together with some Chocolate seam binding from The Ribbon Reel, and some beautiful Dovecraft lace and teal twine from my local craft shop Flutterby Crafts. I added some blue butterflies and gems, and a brown hemp threaded tan button.

WMSC #115

* I haven't had time to create a brand new entry for this month's blog party, so i am entering my card made for this week's WMSC! Happy Partying all!*

Hi all, today I have a card for the Waltzingmouse |sketch Challenge. I have missed it the last couple of weeks, if I don't get it in early, I'm usually very late or not at all - so here I am today, very early for a change!

 And here's my take:

I have made a card for my husband, who is currently taking part in a charity cycle ride, and it's a tough one. The route is from Land's End in Cornwall, the most southern point on the U.K mainland to John O'Groats in Scotland, the furthest tip of the U.K mainland! 960 miles to be precise! So, these crazy people (about 700 of them!) do this once a year, cycling on average 100 miles a day. He started last Saturday, and the ride finishes tomorrow, where they will reach their destination. I didn't get to talk to him last night, as he had spent 10 hours cycling in the rain and wind, and his text sounded very despondent. He is drained physically and probably emotionally, and we all miss him and just want him to come home.

Needless to say, we are all proud of him. So I have made a card for him, from us to welcome him back.

I used three WMS stamp sets, and the first one I reached for was Blessed by You, for the Proud of You sentiment. This set also contains some leafy images and a pie image ( he loves apple pie!) and I was going to use that, but the WMSC this morning pointed me in a different direction. The square pattern just fitted so well with the square oak leaf design in this set, and I worked around this theme.

I clear embossed this design four times onto some kraft card, and distressed with inks and distressing tool, mounted onto some pumpkin coloured card and set aside.

I then stamped my background using the leaf and acorn elements from Blessed by You,  Big Blooms Chrysanthemums, and Peace and Plenty.

I then distressed with inks and a distressing tool.

I then stamped some of the solid leaves in distress inks and cut out, sponged and layered together for a little pile of leaves, topped with a dark brown hemp bow and gem.

Finally I added some hemp to the top of the card, and some gems to the little squares - I decided to use three in the end as I wanted to see more of the background pattern I had stamped!

DYSU #89 - Kraft & Twine

Hi all, this week at DYSU we have the challenge of using Kraft with twine.
I was lucky to be given this sweet little girl from one of our generous sponsors this week Inspired Stamps, called Thankful Girl.

I have paper pieced her with some pretty papers from Dovecraft called Garden party, and coloured her face and hair with Promarkers.

She has been cut with nesties and layered onto some Stampin' Up! card and the same pretty papers.

I added some pink twine and some large fabric flowers and a couple of kraft tags and butterflies topped with some gems.

Something a little different...

...from me this evening. Not a craft related post, but, something that I don't usually do. Just to let my lovely blog friends know about the Ride Across Britain. A lot of crazy people are cycling from The Southern most tip of the U.K to John O'Groats in Scotland - 960 Miles! In my book, a very long way! By car it would be...a very long way! It is going to take these brave (foolish!) cyclists 8 Days to get from A to B.

My Husband is one of these mad fools - sorry, I mean brave people! He is raising money for The Great Ormond Street Charity for Children, a very worthy cause. I have called these cyclists 'Brave', but of course, the real bravery is shown by the children and parents that need the services of Great Ormond Street Hospital. 

As a parent, I cannot imagine anything worse in my life than having a very sick child. I count my blessings every day that our children are healthy and happy.

So, I am asking my lovely blog friends, if you have a spare 5 minutes and a spare £5 or $5, please could you help David reach his goal of raising £500 for this wonderful charity? He is almost there, and I and the children are missing him very much indeed, but I know he is doing something he loves for a very good cause.

Less is More - Foliage

Hi all, I hope you're enjoying this  glorious early autumn sunshine, aren't we lucky?!

I tried to mow the lawn, but the mower packed up, so I did the next best thing, and got a bit creative ;-)

This morning over at Less is More, the theme is Foliage on a one layer card. And over at CAS-ual Friday's the theme is embossing, either wet or dry.

 I've been itching to use one of my newer purchases for a while - I used it earlier this year, but I haven't had a chance recently to ink it up.
So today's challenge was perfect for me to use this beautiful image of a fern leaf from the Stampin' Up! Growing Green set.

I love this image, it has to be one of my most favourite stamps right now.

I stamped the fern image onto some Certainly Celery cardstock, and clear embossed. I then stamped the sentiment from Uniko Studios in Versamark and Memento Potter's Clay.

Then, taking two green ink pads, I pressed them onto some acrylic blocks, and using a paintbrush, painted some greenery onto each leaf in Certainly Celery. I then painted some Bundled Sage in the corners of the leaves for a little definition. This is something I have been meaning to try for a while, so glad I did it today.

This is how I did it! It was so easy to do, and I am definitely going to give this technique another whirl again.

Finally I tied a small strip of sheer ribbon in Lucky limeade around the top, and added a little creamy pearl, I hope this still qualifies as a one layer card!
