Feathers Appear...

Hi all, I'm back for another post! I'm on a day off today, so I thought I'd make the most of my new found crafty mojo!

I've been playing with my new Brushos from That's Crafty, and my new Visible Image stamps. I have made a card for a friend, a fellow Kate Bush fan - the card is inspired by the interval curtain at Kate's shows last year, which featured a large black feather to the top right hand corner. The second part of the shows were based on her Aerial album, which heavily features birds - at the end of the performance, Kate transforms into a bird! Really hoping the DVD will be released soon, as I would love to watch it all again. Here is a pic of the curtain that inspired my card.

For the background I used Brilliant Red Brusho pigment paint, and sprinkled a little bit of Dark Brown onto it, then spritzed with some water. The wonderful thing about this technique is that you never know how it will turn out, and that's half the fun. The brown pigment spread like a little flock of birds, perfect!

 

After drying, I stamped the feather image and the small flock of birds from Free Your Imagination set in Versamark, and black embossed and added the sentiment from the Angels are Near set.

 

I applied some Mod Podge around the edge of the card, and added these little black sprinkles by Cosmic Shimmer in Ebony Ice - they get everywhere!! I spritzed the whole thing with Mister Huey Pinstripe Grey and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Dazzling Diamonds. Finally I mounted onto a card base which had been distressed with Black Soot DI.

I've had a lot of fun getting messy making this, it's a very large card measuring 8 x 8 inches!

Imperfection is Beauty..

Hi all, I am back again, twice in one week, I must be on a roll LOL! I've been getting inky with some new to me stamps, and a new to me product called Brushos.

I have made a card using the cracked glass stamp from the Visible Image set Time after Time. I clear embossed the design onto white card, and my intention had been to use my distress inks for the resist-emboss technique. 

But, since joining the Visible Image Facebook Group, where lots of members have been using Brushos to great effect, I thought I would try these pigment powder paints myself, so I ordered a mixed box from That's Crafty, and they arrived two days later, excellent service!

So I had a little play and created some backgrounds for use later, and what I have learnt in the last couple of days of experimentation is, less is most definitely more!

I pulled out my stamped card, and thought I would try the Brushos on the cracked glass background, and see what happened.

The effect of the embossed areas, due to the spiky design, resulted in a stained glass effect, and I almost didn't want to cut the finished result for a card, it was so pretty.

I washed the card with water, and sprinkled Purple, Emerald Green and Turquoise onto the wet card, and the effect is mesmerising. I then sprayed some water onto more dense areas of the powder paint, and left to dry.

I stamped the sentiment, 'Imperfection is Beauty' also from Visible Image, in Brilliance Pink, and clear embossed onto lilac card. I distressed the edges of the sentiment panel, and edged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I sprayed this with some Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Antique Pink.

When dry, I sprayed with the Cosmic Shimmer mist,  mounted onto a distressed lilac mat, and then wrapped some natural twine around the middle.

I topped the sentiment in the middle, before adhering to my card base, which has been inked with Dusty Concord.

I love the effect of the Brushos with this stamp, and I will be using some different colourways with this again.

Goth Girl

Hi all, it's been a while since my last post, I just don't seem to blog as much these days, or indeed craft as much as I used to. Well needs must this week, as it is my duaghter's birthday tomorrow, she is turning 15, a tricky age style wise I am increasingly finding! What to do for her? Too old for cute, too young for glam, hmmm...

So I chose this lovely Goth Girl by Rick St. Dennis, as I thought it fits the bill! I coloured her with Promarkers, and shaded a bit with polychromos pencils.

I love the sweet expression on her face!

I layered her onto a clock face from All Occasion Dies, and the papers were free with a magazine. Really pretty papers they are too, I may have to buy another mag just for the papers!
On the base of the card I used gold mirri as a mat, and toopped with the chevron design paper, and then I added two panels of gold glittered card, topped with polka dots and hearts from the same papers, and added some pretty sequins, pearl string and gold ribbon.

I added some pastel flowers and gold mirri cogs to the corner, and the paper bow came with the free papers. For some sparkle I added some glamour dust to her hair band and flower, and on the flowers too.

Mother's Day

Hi all, well it has been quite a while since I last blogged. I just don't have any card making mojo in me at the moment, although I am still enjoying colouring in digi images. I just never get round to creating with them.

I am here today with a card for my Mother-in-Law for mother's Day which here in the U.K is on Sunday.

I have used this beautiful Rick St. Dennis image called Mood Indigo, and she is coloured with Promarkers. I teamed her up with papers from Trimcraft called Sweet Paris.

Here is a close up of the lovely lady. I added some some Double Pearl Strands from my local craft shop, The Mulberry Bush, and a collection of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I added some tiny gold gems to her head dress and bracelet, and some platinum stickles to the star decorations on her dress.

Inspired by Kate

Hi all, I'm here today with a card I made for a couple of things - A Kate Bush inspired competition to make a card, and the WMSFC, which has an open theme of anything goes using WMS. I would also like to enter this into the WMS Pyjama Party,  and the challenge I am going for is an older set.

Back in September I had the great luck to see Kate Bush in concert 3 times. She is an artist I have admired for many years, since I was a young girl, so to actually get to see her perform was a dream come true. In the show, at the end of the second half, she transforms into a bird, with huge wings, borne aloft. It was a breathtaking moment. She sings, just before the transformation 'My beautiful Wings, my beautiful Wings, they're so exciting' so I've made a blackbird wing!

I have used Fine Feathers stamps and dies, and embossed the feathers using pearly embossing powder, which shimmers against the black card I used.

I added some black gems, and a clear sparklet to the top of the wing for some extra sparkle.

The sentiment is computer generated, using her line My Beautiful Wings.

Feeling Festive!

Hi all, well it's been another month gone by! I'm averaging one card a month at the moment, I just need more hours in my day! Today I'm sharing a Christmas card for the Rick St. Dennis Progressive Challenge, which is anything goes using a Rick St. Dennis image. This fun, happy chappy is called 'Star Elf', and you can find him in Rick's Zibbet shop.

I coloured him woth Polychromos pencils, and teamed him with some festive paper from My Mind's Eye, and some stripy ribbon from Stampin' Up!.

I used some red baker's twine and attached a little tree charm to it, and topped with a red Christmas rose and some white pearly flowers from my stash. The leaves are a die cut from Sue Wilson Designs.

The sentiment is from Darcies and is cut using a S.U punch, and I added some red gemstones to the label.

I am also entering this into the Facebook Rick St. Dennis challenge.

Rick St. Dennis Progressive Challenge

Hi all, I'm back today with a card made for the Rick St. Dennis Progressive Challenge. The wonderful image is called Belle et Bete and is from the Rick St Dennis shop at Etsy.

I coloured them with Polychromos pencils, and matted with some black card. I was going to add some more panels, ribbon, glitter and pearls, but the image is quite big, and the papers from Graphic 45 are quite busy, and are too pretty to cover up, so i left it as it is! A relatively CAS design from me with this beautiful image!

Do check out the Progressive challenge if you haven't already done so - if a new player you will have to purchase Belle et Bete, but next month yopu will get an image for free to play with in the next challenge.
