RSD TAG Challenge, PTT, Tuesday Throwdown..

Hi all, I'm sharing a creation today that has taken me out of my comfort zone! I don't do creepy projects very often, I think it is because I am unused to the colour combos for images.  But I have made a double tag project for a Facebook challenge on the Rick St. Dennis group, to create a tag with the words 'Summer is fine, but I'm ready for Halloween' on it.  So I hemmed and hawed over this one, and this is what my fingers decided to make today :-)

The image is Nathanial Nightshade, and he is coloured with Promarkers, and slightly distressed around the edges with Walnut Distress ink. After I coloured him, I set about distressing two paper tags.

 I used Scattered Straw, Weathered Wood, Peeled Paint, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks. I then sprayed some Cosmic Shimmer Mist in  Tarnished Gold over both tags, I hope you can see the shimmer in these pics, it's so pretty.

Once dry, I embossed in Grey Flannel Memento Luxe ink some barbed wire (from Visible Image stamps) and some claw scratch marks (from Waltzingmouse Stamps) onto one tag, and on the other, I Black embossed using Tuxedo Black Luxe ink some arches and bats from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The little pumpkins (WMS) are embossed in the Memento Grey Flannel Luxe ink and clear embossed.

The sentiment is computer generated, and I rubbed some distress ink over the words which smudged the ink a bit, but I think it matches the feel of the tags, so I used them.

For my favourite sparkle, I added some pewter gems, and star shaped gems, and finally added some ribbon through the tag holes.

I've really enjoyed creating with this creepy dude!

Less is More, MFT Sketch..

Hi all, happy Saturday, well it would be a bit happier for me if I didn't have to go into work in an hour on this beautiful sunny day boo! Never mine, I made a card this morning for the new Less is More challenge (Use Metal) and the MFT Challenge Blog, featuring this sketch to follow -

So, I have used MFT Chevrons dies, MFT Frilled Perennials dies, and MFT card in Natural, Grapesicle and Sno Cone, these colours look so pretty together! The sentiment is from Die-namics Polka Dot Sentiments.

I used jewelled brads for the flower middles, and a pale blue brad by the sentiment.

Right, off to get ready for work boo hoo!!

Less is More - Sunshine

Hi all, I've made a couple of card for this week's Less is Morehttp://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/ challenge, I've been ruminating on the theme all week 'Sunshine' and had a dig through my box of neglected stamps. I came across a couple of sets I bought 5 years ago, but have only used once! They work in tandem together and are by Darcy Heater - they are called My Sunshine and Raindrop Kisses.

For my first card I used this sweet image of a little girl, and coloured her with Staedtler colour pencils. I stamped the sun directly onto the card base, as I did with the clouds (which I masked) and the puddle and raindrops. They are also coloured with the same pencils. I then mounted the little girl onto some foam pads and attached.

 Inside, I stamped the sentiment from Raindrop Kisses, and the little sun and puddle. They are also coloured with the pencils.

For my second card I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder, brayered with Distress inks for a letterpress effect.

 I cut a matt gold frame, and layered over the top of the panel, and attached to the card base.
 I stamped the sentiment from the same sets, and added some orange gems.

Less is More - Water

Hi all, I'm here today with a couple of CAS cards today for the Less is More challenge, where the theme is One Layer and Water. I tried to post both cards, but it wouldn't let me as it has the same link.

 I don't do CAS very often, as I do like a lot of layers and embellishments, but sometimes it's nice to create something a bit more, well, simple! These came together really quickly, using my new Brushos pigment paints. I made up a rainbow of water-colours, and quite simply, painted them into the centre of the first card, then spattered them onto the second card.

I added the birds and sentiment from the Visible Image set OZ Dorothy set over the top.

On this card, I also used a Visible Image stamp, from the Free Your Imagination set.

Feathers Appear...

Hi all, I'm back for another post! I'm on a day off today, so I thought I'd make the most of my new found crafty mojo!

I've been playing with my new Brushos from That's Crafty, and my new Visible Image stamps. I have made a card for a friend, a fellow Kate Bush fan - the card is inspired by the interval curtain at Kate's shows last year, which featured a large black feather to the top right hand corner. The second part of the shows were based on her Aerial album, which heavily features birds - at the end of the performance, Kate transforms into a bird! Really hoping the DVD will be released soon, as I would love to watch it all again. Here is a pic of the curtain that inspired my card.

For the background I used Brilliant Red Brusho pigment paint, and sprinkled a little bit of Dark Brown onto it, then spritzed with some water. The wonderful thing about this technique is that you never know how it will turn out, and that's half the fun. The brown pigment spread like a little flock of birds, perfect!

 

After drying, I stamped the feather image and the small flock of birds from Free Your Imagination set in Versamark, and black embossed and added the sentiment from the Angels are Near set.

 

I applied some Mod Podge around the edge of the card, and added these little black sprinkles by Cosmic Shimmer in Ebony Ice - they get everywhere!! I spritzed the whole thing with Mister Huey Pinstripe Grey and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Dazzling Diamonds. Finally I mounted onto a card base which had been distressed with Black Soot DI.

I've had a lot of fun getting messy making this, it's a very large card measuring 8 x 8 inches!

Imperfection is Beauty..

Hi all, I am back again, twice in one week, I must be on a roll LOL! I've been getting inky with some new to me stamps, and a new to me product called Brushos.

I have made a card using the cracked glass stamp from the Visible Image set Time after Time. I clear embossed the design onto white card, and my intention had been to use my distress inks for the resist-emboss technique. 

But, since joining the Visible Image Facebook Group, where lots of members have been using Brushos to great effect, I thought I would try these pigment powder paints myself, so I ordered a mixed box from That's Crafty, and they arrived two days later, excellent service!

So I had a little play and created some backgrounds for use later, and what I have learnt in the last couple of days of experimentation is, less is most definitely more!

I pulled out my stamped card, and thought I would try the Brushos on the cracked glass background, and see what happened.

The effect of the embossed areas, due to the spiky design, resulted in a stained glass effect, and I almost didn't want to cut the finished result for a card, it was so pretty.

I washed the card with water, and sprinkled Purple, Emerald Green and Turquoise onto the wet card, and the effect is mesmerising. I then sprayed some water onto more dense areas of the powder paint, and left to dry.

I stamped the sentiment, 'Imperfection is Beauty' also from Visible Image, in Brilliance Pink, and clear embossed onto lilac card. I distressed the edges of the sentiment panel, and edged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I sprayed this with some Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Antique Pink.

When dry, I sprayed with the Cosmic Shimmer mist,  mounted onto a distressed lilac mat, and then wrapped some natural twine around the middle.

I topped the sentiment in the middle, before adhering to my card base, which has been inked with Dusty Concord.

I love the effect of the Brushos with this stamp, and I will be using some different colourways with this again.

Goth Girl

Hi all, it's been a while since my last post, I just don't seem to blog as much these days, or indeed craft as much as I used to. Well needs must this week, as it is my duaghter's birthday tomorrow, she is turning 15, a tricky age style wise I am increasingly finding! What to do for her? Too old for cute, too young for glam, hmmm...

So I chose this lovely Goth Girl by Rick St. Dennis, as I thought it fits the bill! I coloured her with Promarkers, and shaded a bit with polychromos pencils.

I love the sweet expression on her face!

I layered her onto a clock face from All Occasion Dies, and the papers were free with a magazine. Really pretty papers they are too, I may have to buy another mag just for the papers!
On the base of the card I used gold mirri as a mat, and toopped with the chevron design paper, and then I added two panels of gold glittered card, topped with polka dots and hearts from the same papers, and added some pretty sequins, pearl string and gold ribbon.

I added some pastel flowers and gold mirri cogs to the corner, and the paper bow came with the free papers. For some sparkle I added some glamour dust to her hair band and flower, and on the flowers too.
