CR84FN 9, Lucy's cards Day 4

Hi all, I have a card today for 2 challenges - the newly launched CR84FN by Mona Pendleton, and Lucy's Cards sketch challenge. Lucy's sketch challenge is a new one every day this week, and I'm 2 days behind lol, but don't worry, you have a month to participate, I just thought it might be fun to try and join in every day! Well, as I said I'm a couple of days behind!

And here is my take:

I have used a cream linen card base, and mounted a pale pink panel which has been stamped in Memento Angel Pink using a Martha Stewart background stamp.



Then using some yellow bazzill paper, made a panel and edged both sides with a Martha Stewart heart edge punch. Lightly distressed around the hearts with Antique Linen distress ink, and again with Walnut Stain just on the tips.



Then threaded some pink ribbon through the heart cut outs and added some pink dew drops by Kars.


Then taking some large peach buttons, threaded some pink bakers twine through, and stuck the to the ribbon crossovers.

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps in Victorian Velvet distress ink, and the little border is stamped in Dewdrop Pink Petunia. Finally distressed around the pink panel with Victorian Velvet, I really love how it brought out the background stamp.



Once again, there is a yellow tint to the pics, but I'm working on it lol!

PDCC 63, Lucy's Cards Day 3

Hi all, thanks for stopping by today. I woke up this morning to find THIS card I had entered into last week's Play Date Cafe Challenge earned the Cream in Our Coffee mention, I'm so pleased!

My mojo had taken a little dive yesterday, I had tried and failed twice to create something for another colour challenge, but I had to give up in the end! So when I saw the mention and the new colour palette at the Play Date Cafe, I was inspired! My favourite colour is green, and the combination of Grass Green, Silver and Gold was too good to resist!

My christmas tree is always decorated in silver and gold - I know many people say not to mix metallics, but it works for me!

The sketch I have followed is from Lucy Abrams blog, Lucy's Cards where there is a new sketch every day this week, pop over and take a look at her fabulous talent and have a go at the fab sketches.

And here is my take, I have turned the sketch on it's side for my card:


The card base is a matt metallic gold, but the light is very bad here today, so it seems a bit yellow; I must get some studio lamps!

The green patterned panel is from a Papermania pad, edged with a Martha Stewart edge punch.
Again, the green is a very fresh green in real life, but it has a yellow tint in the pics, grrr!.


I have wrapped some silver elasticated ribbon around the panel and tied at the top in a bow, with some green bakers twine and some green chiffon ribbon.


The sentiment label is a new stamp by Silke Stempel (I think) stamped in Versamark and embossed in silver onto some vellum, then hand cut out and layered onto some Martha Stewart green card and hand cut out again - took me ages! I should have stuck the vellum onto the card first THEN cut out, oh well it was first thing this morning!! It takes me a while to wake up lol!


The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps Fancy Phrases stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

Finally added some lovely shiny green dewdrops from Kars and some tiny pale green pearls to the label.

I really love this card, the colours make me feel fresh and happy, even though it's the most miserable wet grey day here today!

Lucy's Card Day 2

Hi all, I have a card for Day 2 on Lucy's Cards challenge - Lucy is hosting a sketch a day, and I'm a bit behind, so without further ado, here are the following sketch and my creation!





Using a kraft card base, I have stamped around the edge a stitching pattern from Waltzingmouse Stamps Faux fun set.



Using swiss dots folder, embossed a kraft tag and inked around the edges with distress ink, and wrapped some gorgeouse gold and red ribbon round it. Then layered 2 fabric flowers and attached a ruby brad.



Threaded some red ric rac through the top, and mounted onto a red bazzill card embossed with Damask embossing folder.



The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and embossed in black, sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps Fancy Phrases.

Finally added some gems to the corner for a little sparkle!

CR84FN #9, Lucy's Cards Day 1

Hi all, hope that the New Year has started off well for you? Well, I have a card today based on the newly designed CR84FN blog by Mona Pendleton and Lucy Abrams sketch at Lucy's Cards from Day 1 - she is hosting a different sketch every day, so I'm going to give them all a go! I am a bit behind, as we were away at our in-laws for New Year, and just got back today, so back to normality of a sort.


Here are the two inspiration sketch/photos:




And here is my take:



I have used a kraft card base, and wrapped 4 lots of yummy pink bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl then tied 4 little bows on each wrap.


Then attached 2 yellow and 2 peach buttons to the bows, and added some pink gems and some peach pearls to the centre of the buttons.


The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps Fancy Phrases, and the little frame is also by Waltzingmouse Stamps Afternoon Tea stamp set, stamped in clear Versamark and embossed with black powder.


Underneath the little tag I have gold embossed two scrolls also from WMS Fancy Phrases.

The panel is layered onto some peachy paper from Papermania (Regency paper stack I think) and mounted onto ivory linen cardstock. Finally, added some peach pearls to the sentiment.

Apologies for the poor lighting in my pictures, I am still trying to get to grips with hubby's camera, and the light here has been so dull today!

PDCC #62, Card Patterns #96

Hi fellow bloggers, hope the Christmas season has been good to you this year! The snow has melted around these parts, but it's grey and dull and a bit drizzly, not great, but at least we can get out and about!

Look what Santa brought me this year! How lucky am I? Loads of Spellbinders dies, and my most wanted Waltzingmouse Stamps! What can I say, except that I have been a VERY good girl this year LOL!!



So I set to, and had a little play........ but my mojo has taken a little Christmas stroll, too much turkey and Christmas pud, lol! So after a few attempts, and a little rest (ie a big sulk!) I came up with a thank you card for two challenges, Card Patterns and The Play Date Cafe.

And here is my take:



Using a white linen card base, I have stamped the lace border from Faux Fun in Victorian Velvet Distress ink. Then using some kraft card, have cut a decorative circle using a Nellie Snellen die cut. The scalloped circle is a Papermania paper, cut with Spellbinders Small Scalloped circles, and topped with a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Fancy Phrases and Victorian Fripperie.



I have inked around the kraft circle in Rosebud ink and added flat backed pearls from Kaisercraft. Finally finished off with some jute twine and pink bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl. Added a couple of clear gems to the top corners, I do love a bit of bling!

Oooh, I had a lovely surprise yesterday from Clare Buswell, over on Clare's Creations. She has given me my very first award!! Thank you so much Clare! It was a lovely little extra christmas gift, and made me smile.

So now I have to think of 8 things about me!

1. I am addicted to coffee, in particular Costa coffee with their lemon cake, it's yummy!

2. I love reading, and for christmas my lovely hubby bought me a Kindle, (haven't looked at the
instructions yet!) in the hope I will stop buying books and stop cluttering up the house! He is
mistaken. I love Tintin books, and read them with my children, I just can't see how this type
of book will transfer to a gadget. We will see....

3. I am ashamed to say that I am a bit of a technophobe, whilst my hubby is the master of all
things electronic. I have only been blogging since the early part of this year, and I really
needed his help to get things going.

4. I love cooking, but hate the washing up afterwards! That's what lovely hubbys are for!

5. I was born in London, and moved to Thatcham near Newbury 14 years ago. Everytime I
go back to London it feels like going home, I miss it.

6. I am a big Kate Bush fan. There, I have said it! My family find it quite irritating that I play
her music all the time. I love her music, and her last album is very soothing, I usually have
it on in the background whilst I make a card. She needs to make a new album, if only for the
sanity of my family!

7. I like to watch documentaries on all periods of history, I find the past, and how people lived
fascinating. One of my favourite programmes is Time Team, I love Tony Robinson in this he is
so enthusiastic, but he will be known forever in my mind as 'Baldrick' from Blackadder, one
of my most favourite comedies EVER! He has a cunning plan m'lud!

8. I have 3 wonderful and inspiring children, who never cease to amaze me with their love,
sense of fun and take on life. My 10 year old has the next 100 years planned out! We will all
apparently have flying cars by then!

So, I managed to find 8 things about me, I hope I haven't bored you!

WMSC #28, CR84FN8

Hi all, hope everyone is ready for the Christmas festivities? I braved the supermarket today, it was manic, but I made it there and back! Phew, now I can start to relax and enjoy the season!

I have a card today for a couple of great challenges, Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and CR84FN at Mona Pendleton's blog Cupcakes's Creations.

And here is my take:



I have used a white linen card base, and made a topper using matt silver card from a christmas stack by Papermania. The pink gingham and floral papers are also by Papermania, cut to look like and envelope, and edged with some Victorian Velvet distress ink. I still have not perfected the art of making the sponging look soft and dreamy like everyone else, but I guess I'll have to practice a bit more!

Added some cream daisy lace ribbon by Dovecraft over the join.



Using the lacy circle from WMS Faux Fun Circles, stamped and silver embossed twice onto some kraft card, and cut out the middle from one, and cut the other using Nestabilities Small Scalloped Circles. Stamped the sentiment from Peace and Plenty in Tuxedo Black on the cut out, and popped it onto the other circle with some foam dots.


Wrapped some pink baker's twine from The Ribbon Girl around the silver topper, tied a bow and added a punched out butterfly.


Added some gems and stickles to the butterfly for some shine, would have added some more, but I restrained myself!


Finally distressed around the edge of the scalloped circle with Pink Petunia chalk ink, layered it all together and voila! A pretty thank-you card for a girly girl!
