The Ribbon Reel - Retro Colours

 Morning all, it's time for a new fortnightly challenge from the Ribbon Reel Challenge. We are being joined this month by the very talented Jeanne Jachna, at  A Kept Life as our August Designer, and she has a stunning card for you all today, pop over and leave her some love!

This week our inspiration has been chosen by Zuzana, with this funky picture:

Zuzana would like us to use these retro style colours, with a flower and ribbon on our creations this week.

I have used the newly released Playful  Pinwheels set from Waltzingmouse Stamps, layered onto a die cut frame, and matted onto some Stampin' Up! card. I stamped the tartan pattern using Offbeat Backgrounds also from WMS, onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz card in Certainly Celery ink, and Weathered Wood Distress Ink.

I added some little punched flowers using a S.U! Itty Bitty punch, and created a little flower using some Aqua pom pom trim from The Ribbon Reel, topped with an S.U! brad.

I topped the larger pinwheel with a punched sakura flower - it has been stamped with Versamark using the blossom from Asian Gardens also from WMS, and punched with a Woodware punch (I think it's by Woodware!) which fits this stamp perfectly!

The little orange grosgrain and blue stripe organic cotton tabs are from The Ribbon Reel shop.

CR84FN #60

 Good morning all, today brings us a new challenge from CR84FN. This week we have the gorgeous combination of Grape, Blue and Green.

I have made Birthday card using some stamps from Uniko Studios.

I stamped the lattice background in Memento Grape Jelly, and then alternately stamped the solid lattice in Memento Blue Danube and Stampin' Up Certainly Celery.
I layered this panel onto two punched panels of Certainly Celery and Perfect Plum. I then cut a focal point panel in Certainly Celery cut with a Go Create die, stamped with some flourishes from Uniko Studios. Finally I added a sentiment also from Uniko,  some green gems, and some clear gems along the bottom.

DYSU #83 - Polka Dots

Hi all, I'm back today with a card for the new Challenge at DYSU. This week we would like to see your creations featuring Polka Dots!

 

I made some treat bags for my children's teachers at the end of term a few weeks ago, using Polka dot and stitching stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps. Sets used are Offbeat Backgrounds, Very Vintage Labels Five and Afternoon Tea Sentiments,

The treat bags are from Waltzingmouse Stamps too, and the yellow Bakers Twine and little cherry blossom is from The Ribbon Reel.

The labels were cut using Spellbinders, and stamped with Waltzingmouse Stamps Very Vintage Labels 5.

WMSC & colourQ

Hi all, I'm getting this in quick as I'm in the middle of packing for hols, and trying to entertain 3 kids, so I'm a bit late to this week's WMSC!

For colour inspiration I have used the lovely combo from colourQ, and the sketch from Waltzingmouse sketch Challenge.

I have made a card for my daughter, who is going to be 10 whilst we are away. I know I have left it very late to make her a card, the day before we go away lol!

I have used the large pattern stamp to create the background on some Baja Breeze card, using Versamark. I distressed the edges with Faded Jeans distress ink.

I stamped the pretty dress from You're Lovely onto some pink patterned paper from Dovecraft Garden Party stack, and wrapped some green chiffon ribbon around the middle. I distressed the edges with Pink Lipstick distress ink.

I then layered the dress onto a die cut using some green card from Stampin' Up, it could be Lucky Limeade, or Certainly Celery, but it was the nearest I had to Kiwi Kiss! I stamped the little flower onto it in Peeled Paint distress ink.

I layered this onto a die cut oval doily. I added some blue seam binding and bakers twine, and some punched butterflies.

Thats all from me, gotta pack, and clean the house!

DYSU # 82 - For a Friend

 Hi all, the new challenge over at DYSU is to create a card or project for a friend.
I chose this sweet image from one of our generous sponsors, called Faye with Flowers from Pink Gem Designs.

I made a thank you card for my daughter's friend (I have a few more to make!) in anticipation of her birthday presents - her birthday is not until 6th August, but as we are away, she is having a sleep over before we go instead. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game, and I'm sure her BFF will love this!

I coloured her with promarkers, and layered her onto a Spellbinders ironwork Motifs small doily, then layered this onto a Marianne Designs snowflake.

The polka dot paper underneath is from Kanban.

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!, stamped in Distress Ink Weathered Wood, cut with a S.U punch too. I wrapped a little piece of off cut seam binding (I can never bear to throw away these little pieces), and layered a pale blue magnolia flower and button twine bows from The Ribbon Reel.

I then layered some silver mirri card onto a pale metallic card base, and assembled all together. Yes, that is my reflection in the mirri!

The Ribbon Reel - Button It!

 Morning all, we have a new challenge this week from The Ribbon Reel, chosen by me! I really fancied a Button Challenge, I love the interest they can bring to a card, especially when combined with stitching.

I have used one of my fave sets at the moment Button Boutique from Papertrey Ink!

The pretty paper is from a Tilda stack, In the garden, all the papers are stunning and as it's a 12x12 stack, I will probably have this for years lol!

I used a selection of buttons from The Ribbon Reel shop, and pink and natural button twine, also from The Ribbon reel shop.

The stitched edge is actually a stamp, from the Hero Arts set Sew Artsy. It's a handy stamp to have when you want to add a stitched effect and either haven't got a sewing machine, or just don't have the time to set it up and re thread it (like me!)

CR84FN # 59

Morning all, today brings us another new colour challenge from CR84FN. This week we would like to see you use the colours of Coral, Brown and Tan. A lovely rich warm palette, that called for a rich combination of pretty papers and image. Well, for me it did!

A few weeks ago I went to the Newbury Artstamps exhibition, which is held at Newbury Racecourse.
This is my third time of attending (they only come once a year to this area) and it was a whistlestop visit, as I had to collect my son from a party in nearby Newbury.

As I whizzed through the stalls, I spied Clarity Stamps, a company that has a unique packaging on their stamps. The stamp is pre-set onto its own acrylic block, and is coloured blue so that you can see exactly where you are stamping. An ingenious product, but my problem is storage - they are rather unwieldy, but I digress!

I spotted this stunning image, not sure what she is called, as there is no outer packaging on these stamps, just the stamp and block. So, I have called her 'Lovely Lady'!

Upon further investigation, she is called 'La Plume'.

I really didn't feel as if I had done this beautiful image justice, but I did try! I used Promarkers to colour her, but my only quibble was at the end, what colour should I make the feather? I settled for a pale ivory and coral tone. I used a Craftwork Cards card base, and layered some very fitting paper from my stash - it's either MME or Cosmo Cricket, sorry I can't remember.

I layered some beautiful coral lace (a gift from my friend Helen) and over this some tan velvet ribbon from The Ribbon Reel.  I mounted the image onto some coral Bazzill, and hand cut around the edges. I then mounted this onto some kraft Bazzill card, onto which I had stamped some flourishes from Uniko Studios Flourishes and Swirls set in Versamark for a little subtle background.

I then added a Spellbinders Persian Motifs & Accents border in kraft card, and added some clear gems which I coloured with a coral Promarker.

I recognised this image as being created by the Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha, so after little research this is the original:

She really is gorgeous!
