Less is More - Foliage

Hi all, I hope you're enjoying this  glorious early autumn sunshine, aren't we lucky?!

I tried to mow the lawn, but the mower packed up, so I did the next best thing, and got a bit creative ;-)

This morning over at Less is More, the theme is Foliage on a one layer card. And over at CAS-ual Friday's the theme is embossing, either wet or dry.

 I've been itching to use one of my newer purchases for a while - I used it earlier this year, but I haven't had a chance recently to ink it up.
So today's challenge was perfect for me to use this beautiful image of a fern leaf from the Stampin' Up! Growing Green set.

I love this image, it has to be one of my most favourite stamps right now.

I stamped the fern image onto some Certainly Celery cardstock, and clear embossed. I then stamped the sentiment from Uniko Studios in Versamark and Memento Potter's Clay.

Then, taking two green ink pads, I pressed them onto some acrylic blocks, and using a paintbrush, painted some greenery onto each leaf in Certainly Celery. I then painted some Bundled Sage in the corners of the leaves for a little definition. This is something I have been meaning to try for a while, so glad I did it today.

This is how I did it! It was so easy to do, and I am definitely going to give this technique another whirl again.

Finally I tied a small strip of sheer ribbon in Lucky limeade around the top, and added a little creamy pearl, I hope this still qualifies as a one layer card!

CR84FN D.T Call!

Morning all! I have a bit of a different post today, to announce that CR84FN are having a D.T call, check out the CR84FN Blog for all the details, and a little give away too!

I have made a little Thank You card for this week's colour challenge, which you still have plenty of time to enter.

 I have used my new Stampin' Up! stamps, Reason To smile to create this peachy lavender toned pattern.

I stamped the gerbera solid stamp in Dried Marigold Distress Ink, then stamped the gerbera outline in Milled Lavender Distress Ink over the top. It's very subtle as the solid image is made up of very fine dots, like newspaper print. The effect is very light, even with darker colours!

I stamped the outline of the smaller flower in Antique Linen Distress Ink, and over stamped the solid in a lavender ink I have had in my stash for 3 years, but it doesn't have a name! Then, I took the solid round image from the set, and stamped the middle of the Gerberas with some more Dried Marigold.

I cut the label using a Stampin' Up Oval Punch and little label punch in Wisteria Wonder and Very Vanilla Card. I stamped the dotty frame using the mystery ink and the label stamp from the Tea Shoppe set, and the sentiment from Thank You Kindly set, all from Stampin' Up!.

Finally I added some tiny creamy pearls for a little shine.

DYSU #88 - Birthday

 

Hi all, today we have a new challenge at DYSU, and the theme is a favourite of mine - Birthdays!
So take inspiration from the picture, and create a card for a birthday.

This week I have used a sweet image from The Stamps of Life, called Birthday for Cookie.

 I have coloured Cookie with pencils for a softer look, and layered the image with some pretty papers from Wild Rose Studios.

Serendipity Stamps - 70's Theme

Hi all, today brings us a fun blog hop with the Serendipity Stamps Design Team! This week, we have been given the challenge of creating with a 70's theme!

I found this fun brighly coloured paper in my stash, it reminded me of the graphics used in 1970's childrens books, and I thought would be perfect with this fab S.S image of Button Mushrooms.

I coloured with Promarkers and layered onto some Stampin' Up! card under the fun patterned paper.

Inside I used some more papers and added some strips of red gingham.

I added a strip of red gingham to the outside, tied with some brown hemp - very 70's! Topped with a yellow button and a red rose.

Tis the Season..

Hi all, I have a Christmas card to share today, using one of the beautiful new images from Serendipity Stamps. 

I have used the Snow Shovel image, and Tis The Season sentiment to create a mostly CAS design, as it's going to be posted.

I stamped the image in Broken China Distress Ink, cut with a scalloped nestie, and layered onto two layered snowflake die cuts from Spellbinders Ironworks Motifs. The polka dot paper is from Wild Rose Studios, and the 'legless brads' are Candi Dots, from Craftwork Cards.

The Ribbon Reel # 36

Hi all, today brings us a new challenge over at The Ribbon Reel.

This week, it's the lovely Helen's turn to choose a theme. Helen has chosen this elegant colour combo of Black, White and a hint of pink, with a vintage theme.

 I had just the right papers in my stash for this, some vintage print adverts paper from Echo Park.

I cut a piece to size, and layered onto some pink Stampin' Up! card, and created a middle panel using the reverse side of the D.P. Over this I added a strip of pink stamped Houndstooth from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

I then cut a scalloped oval doily from MFT, and added some pretty white Cherry Blossoms and large Pink Rose from The ribbon Reel shop. I added a sheer spot bow beneath the rose, also from The ribbon Reel.

Finally I added some glamour dust to the pink rose, and some pink gems to the black label.

CR84FN 62

Hi all, today brings us a new colour challenge from CR84FN! This week, we have a very pretty palette of Lavender, Peach and Neutral.

 I immediately knew which pretty papers to use for this, that incorporated all these lovely colours. The paper I have used is from a paper stack by Trimcraft called Desert Blooms. Although you can't really see in the pics, they have some glittered embossed flowers, and sparkle in the light.

I have created the sentiment label using a Waltzingmouse sentiment stamp, and two doilies cut using an MFT die set, in cream and peach card. I surrounded the sentiment with some pretty paper roses, and a detailed cream resin flower. I cut four flourishes using a Memory box die, and arranged them under the flowers.

The shaped card base is from Craftwork Cards, covered with the patterned paper, and then I wrapped some lavender seam binding and natural twine around the middle both from The Ribbon Reel. Added some peach lace trim (a gift from my blog buddy Helen) and topped with some cream mini pom pom trim from the Ribbon Reel. Finally I added a twine bow and a layered butterfly.
