OLW, colourQ #123

Hi all, I have a quick post this evening, as I managed to squeeze in a bit of crafty time today around my chores and general panic over our trip!

I love the colours this week from colourQ, and I was inspired by the picture to use an owl stamp I've had for a little while. However, after I had stamped and coloured it, it just didn't look right, so I went for a more simple graphic feel.



I was inspired to keep it one layered, and Clean and Simple following the new challenge from One Layer Wednesday, where today's new challenge asks for 5 circles or more to be incorporated in your one layer card. I'm also entering this into this week's City Crafter Challenge, which would like 3 or more colours of the rainbow.



Using this label from Waltzingmouse Stamps Very Vintage Labels 3, I stamped directly onto the card base in Memento London Fog, and coloured with pencils. The sentiment is from WMS Frame it set, and the little flourishes are from Very Vintage Labels 4, stamped in Versamagic Pink Petunia.

I've counted the little circles set into the corners, and there's 44!!

The Ribbon Reel # 21

Hi all, today brings us another challenge from The Ribbon Reel, and this week Lenet has chosen this delightfully girly inspiration picture. Lenet has asked that we use the colours from the inspiration picture, and include seam binding/ribbon, lace, roses and some stitching.

Gorgeous!




And here's my girly card!




I've used some pretty Melissa Frances 5th Avenue papers, and sewed them onto some distressed pink paper from Craftwork Cards.




The using Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack 1, I stamped and cut the elegant sentiment, and layered onto a scalloped circle stamped with the border design from Waltzingmouse Stamps Victorian Frippery set.




Then layered some blue velvet ribbon with some crochet lace, and added some pink velvet ric-rac underneath the label, all from The Ribbon Reel shop.



Finally added some cream and pale blue cherry blossoms layered with some cream loop trim, all from The Ribbon Reel. I had to top the sentiment label with my favourite bling - Prima Say it in Crystals.


And as it's the 5th Anniversary for Papertrey Ink, I thought I would share this card at their Celebrations today. Betsy Veldman is an inspiration with her clever use of colour, pattern and texture, and I've been following her blog for a long time now.



My card is predominantly Sentiment based, and with that elegant frame from Mat Stack 1, it doesn't need too much embellishing!

WMSC #83, Color Throwdown #177

Happy Weekend everyone! Yesterday brought us the new challenge at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, and recently I've been a bit late to the table, as they say! But I'm getting myself organised as we are going away next Friday (very early) to The Gambia for a week's holiday, and I just know that I will run out of time by Wednesday!

So, here's the fab sketch from Jen Cuthbertson:



And for inspiration I have used this week's colour pallette from Color Throwdown:



Not having any Melon Mambo in my stash, I have had to use a pink Core'dinations card instead.



I have embossed the pink Core'dinations with the Springtime Background, and sanded back to reveal the pale core.



I then stamped a background pattern in black using the outline Celtic design from Waltzingmouse Stamps Celtic Heritage set.


I then cut a circle, using my largest Nestabilities circles. I then stamped the celtic heart onto some white card, and embossed with White Pearls embossing powder. When cool, I gently picked out the celtic design using a pink Promarker, a bit like the emboss resist technique - andy pink that I got on the embossed heart I quickly wiped off.

I then tied a fancy bow using black baker's twine, and attached a Tiny Tag.
I then adhered some ruffled organic cotton and added some gems to the circle, and also a few to the pink card. Finally mounted this onto a white Linen card base.

Well, I have almost finished my packing for our trip next week, just the toiletries and magazines to go and I'll be ready! It's come round so quick, where does the time go?

The Play Date Cafe #117, and a Few More!

Hi all, today i have a card for a few challenges, based on the colours from this week's Play Date Cafe colour combo.


Robin's Egg, Lilac, and Bisque. How dreamy are these colours?



I've used a petal point card base, and created a base panel of some beautiful Websters Pages paper stitched onto some custom paper - I didn't have the correct shade of lilac, so I took a lilac Promarker, and coloured some Neenah Classic Crest to create the desired shade.



I then stamped a newsprint Design in Lilac Posy onto some white Classic Crest, and gently pounced some Distress ink in Old Paper over the top. I then cut them to size, and stitched them to some pearly pale Bisque shade card.



Then I cut a frame out of Melissa Frances paper, using a Marianne die, and topped it with a die cut dressform out of some more custom paper - I didn't have the right shade for the Robins Egg shade, so took a Promarker and coloured my own! The dress form is a Tim Holtz die, and is the sweet little cotton reel, with the blue thread wrapped around it.



I then finished off the card by assembling, and adding a fancy bow in seam binding topped with a pearl and rhinestone button, some paper roses and a Tiny Tag.

Well, we haven't had the snow yet, but it's forcast for tonight. So, I am taking my eldest daughter to the cinema to see Warhorse - she had the book for Christmas, and has just finished reading it, and is very keen to go. So, I'll make sure I bring some Kleenex with me, as I know it's a sad film!

WMSC # 82, 52 (Christmas Card) Throwdown

Hi all, tday I have a card made for Waltzingmouse sketch Challenge, I'm a bit late with it this week, but time has yet again just run away with me!

I'm also entering this into the 52(Christmas Card) Challenge, which wants us to use lots of bling! I will also enter this into Stamptacular sunday, which wants Diamonds or Pearls, and Pals Paper Arts, which is looking for RED!






Here's my take:



I have turned the sketch on it's side, and stamped the Scandinavian style snowflake from Around Christmastime, from WMS, in Versamark and White Pearls embossing powder. It has a really beautiful pearly sheen, and this snowflake stamps a perfect image. I then topped the snowflakes with some beautiful red gems.




I then stamped the greeting randomly, in Ladybug Red, and attached a red border punched with a Martha Stewart punch.



Before adherin g the punched border, I wrapped some red bakers twine from The Ribbon Reel around it, and added a pretty bow with some little jingle bells topped with a clear rhinestone.



I then attached this panel to a white linen card base.

It's so cold outside, and we have some snow predicted for us here in West Berkshire tomorrow night, I hope we get enough to build a snowman!

I had better go and do some house work and ironing, as this weekend I will be sorting out our packing for our trip to The Gambia! It's currently 32 degrees there, I just hope the snow is gone by next Friday and doesn't delay our flight! I hate flying, so I'm already nervous, but I know I will love it when we are there! The kids are going to their Grandparents, so me and hubby have a whole week to ourselves - a total rarity! We will be a couple again, not just mum and dad, so it will take a bit of getting used to lol!

Morning all, today brings us another challenge from Charisma Cardz, and our theme is Vintage!

We have some fab sponsors this week, and Pink Cat Studio have provided the D.T with some sweet images to use, and I chose this little girl and her bunny!





I have used a petal point card base from Craftwork Cards, and used papers from Trimcraft First Edition Desert Blooms paper stack.




I printed this sweet digi onto some Neenah Classic Crest, and coloured her with Promarkers, cut with Nestabilities Circles Small, and layered onto a scalloped circle also cut using nesties.



I tied a fancy bow using Rose Petal seam binding from The Ribbon Reel, topped with a rose and layered onto some beautiful Guipure lace all from The Ribbon Reel.



The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps inside a frame from PTI, stamped in Memento Rich cocoa onto some pink paper from Desert Blooms.

Finally added some Glamour dust around the image and to her hair, and some pink gems along the bottom.

DYSU # 57 - Anything Goes!

Hi all, today brings us another challenge from DYSU, and this week it's everyone's favourite - Anything Goes!

I have coloured this pair in using Promarkers, cut with circle Nestabilities, and layered onto a silver lacy circle cut using a Nellie Snellen die.




I then stitched a piece of grey patterned damask paper from Craftwork Cards onto some pink Bazzill bling, and stitched all around the edge of the Bazzill.




I added a sentiment using stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink, and added a black ribbon bow topped with some Candy Pink Baker's Twine, both from The Ribbon Reel.
