WMSC #35, Less is More

Hi all, I have a card this evening for two challenges - the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, and the new Less is More Challenge. I have missed the last couple of WMSC challenges, so I thought I'd get in today while my mojo has the motor running!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

I have used a pearlescent card base, and run half of it through the swiss dots folder.

Then using the star image from WMS Seasons of Love set I have stamped in versamrk and embossed with white pearls embossing powder onto some turquoisey patterened paper that I got last year from the craft show at Newbury Racecourse - it was in a mixed pack from an independant seller so I don't have the manufacturer's name. Cut out using my Nestabilities star shapes.

Stamped a circle from WMS Vintage Circles in Turquoise Gem, and cut using my nesties circles small.

Adhered the stamped flower image, coloured with promarkers, from WMS Spring Baskets and added some Ice stickles for some shimmer.

Tied a bow and attached to the top of the star with a button I rescued from a Christmas card.
Then I made a boo-boo.

I stamped the sentiment straight onto the card, BUT I smudged it with my hand as I applied the stickles! I was so cross I could have cried, as everything had been stuck down already! Grrrr!

What a wally. So I stamped the sentiment again and added the little butterfly to the little panel, but really I would have preferred not to have had to use this! Live and Learn don't we?

Finally I corner chomped the edges, and I am happy, but not delighted with it. Next time, I'll apply the stickles first!

Thanks for stopping by

Pauline xx

This is so pretty Pauline. What a shame about the smudge, but I would have done exactly the same as you and covered it with another sentiment, however the card looks slightly different in the photo!
Thanks for joining us and I hope we see you again next week!

Pauline, looks like you put a lot of work into this beautiful card. I know how much it upset me when I make a mess of my card...good fix you made!

Love the colours you've used, shame about the smudge. It can be so frustrating but at least you've managed to fix it. x

This is a lovely card. Love your layout. I think we've all had smudges to rectify at some point, and you resolved yours really well.

Beautiful card. I've had to do that trick too but I'm not as brave as you and kept it a secret!

I have tonnes of cards with "extra bits" to cover my mistakes. I subscribe to the Bob Ross approach - there is no such thing as a mistake, just a happy accident! Love the overall look you've achieved.

Oh how frustrating and I guess it would have been more CAS if it hadn't smudged. Love your colour choices.

Pauline, gorgeous interpretation of WMS! I have done the same thing with smearing a word...just this past week, actually. I wound up doing something similar to your fix, as well.

Yup, been there done that loads of times! I've learnt the hard way to put things with stickles on to one side to dry and add it to my project last of all! I've also recovered my bad stamping in exactly the same way as you have too. Lovely colours on your card too. Thanks for popping in to mine already.

Hugs
Brenda

Aww what a shame about the smudge - that's the sort of thing I do ALL the time. It looks fine with the added sentiment though - I love the glitter and how you only added the embosssed dots to one half of the card.

Love it Pauline. The layout is great, and the colours very pretty. I've done exactly the same as you many times (smudged the ink), it's so infuriating. Sue.x
